Yes You Should. So we can torch it.
What's the point of enthusiast car with Auto?
I once saw an NSX with Auto. I has a sad.

They made automatic NSXs?

Hell yeah

Yes, because God hates us. However, one of the import mags did an article awhile back about a guy who bought an A/T NSX, for cheaper, and converted it... Not a bad idea. But seriously, why would they put an automatic in an NSX?!?!?!?! They gave all the S2Ks manuals! Honda, you knew better. Shame on you.

I recall hearing something about loose fuel lines on the BRZ Auto. Maybe this guy doesn't know about that. Maybe you should give us his address. You know. So we can...keep him informed.

This was even Sucker. An Automatic Lancer Evo IX Wagon.

I have an automatic FRS.
The torque converter is great in this car, it's more responsive then the Audi RS7 on the driveway. And that car is $90K more.
This isn't the 90's, automatics are goo d excellent now. There's no such thing as an enthusiasts choice, only elitism. And yes, my other car is a stick shift.
I've only had one person bitch at me in real life about and that kid didn't even know what an autocross course was.

So?
It's a pretty good auto.
Would I buy one with an auto? No. But everyone is entitled to their choices.
Be glad they bought a BRZ. Don't chastise them for choosing a different transmission than you would.

They were pretty shitty too, the downshifts were fast but the upshifts were heavily delayed. It's still good fun. They needed them...or they wouldn't of sold as many.

Thank you I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks that way. Fun car is fun car regardless of transmission. If just simply driving it brings you joy than nothing else matters.

Oh come on what was the take rate on autos
![]() 06/13/2014 at 23:22 |

Not much, every 11 cars sold was one automatic. Still made a difference.

Anyone else make the mistake of watching that jalopnic episode with the ebay price game? Spinelli (or however you spell his name) selected an automatic FD...I then did the only sensible thing and turned off the video. I lost all respect for him that very moment. Remember; the decisions we make define us.

Good.
Manual transmissions aren't for everyone. Some people just can't get the feel of them. Some are to intimidated and self-conscious to try learning because of how we go on about the MASTERFUL SKILL OF BEING ABLE TO ROW GEARS AND THE GODLIKE TALENT IT TAKES TO DO A PROPER REV-MATCH DOWNSHIFT. Some simply choose an auto because they don't want to be constantly on and off the clutch during their terrible stop-go slog to work at 8 AM in the slowest traffic jam known to man (the one measured via sundial). Whatever his reason, I say good for him. Good for him for choosing to have his desired automatic in a fun car instead of getting something overall dull/bad like a Camry or a PT Cruiser.
Seriously, there's no need or reason for auto-shaming.

You should sneak into his garage one night and do an MTX swap. That'll learn him.

Not you, the guy who got an auto BRZ.
